These days Aaron Rodgers’ name is being thrown around as being one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the game right now. I have to say, from last year’s performance, that assessment isn’t too far-fetched. His targets aren’t too shabby either, as both Greg Jennings and Donald Driver each had over 1,000 yards last year. As much as it pains me to say it, the Packers have a solid group put together prime to make a run in the playoffs.
Many people may point out their defensive deficiencies, but they were in the top 10 in total yards allowed and points allowed. It’s just that in the games where the Packers lose, their defense is the main culprit. With the departure of lane clogging defensive end Aaron Kampman, other guys will have to step up.
The Packers secondary is probably the best in the league. Charles Woodson is an absolute ball hawk who has found a niche in the so-called twilight of his career. Atari Bigby, Al Harris, Tramon Williams, and Nick Collins are play great team defense and compliment each other well.
The Packers season will be based on their defense’s ability to close out the games that need to be closed out. Their offense is primed and ready to go. I see the Packers edging out the Vikings this year for the NFC North crown with a 13-3 record. And I’m a Vikings fan, so there you go, you cheeseheads!

2. Green Bay Packers: The Packers had a disappointing end to their season when they lost to the Cardinals in the playoffs in overtime. Everytime they lost last season, their defense let them down. Every single one of their losses, the Packers let up at least 30 points in the game. Two out of the Packers five losses also came from their division rival Vikings. If the Packers want to go further into the playoffs this season, they will have to find a way to beat the Vikings. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Last season Rodgers had near MVP numbers with 30 touchdowns and only seven interceptions, giving him a quarterback rating of 103.2. Rodgers should thank his two great receivers Greg Jennings and Donald Driver for his success last season. The Packers running back Ryan Grant had a bounce back season last year and I think he will continue to improve this season. The Packers defense did not improve in my eyes with the departure of Aaron Kampman to the Jaguars. I think the Packers will struggle beating the Vikings again this season. The Packers will have to rely even more on their offense this season to outscore their opponents. I think the Packers will finish with the same record of 11-5 this season.

A year ago this week, Jeremy Kapinos walked off the plane in Green Bay to snowy, cold conditions.
The punter kicked in four games for the Green Bay Packers last season and other than his second game in Jacksonville, Fla., the temperatures at kickoff were 3, 2 and 22 degrees.
Welcome to the NFL, cold-weather style.
With five games left in the regular season, the weather is about to turn cold, and whether the Packers, 7-4 and in the hunt for an NFC wild-card playoff berth, make the postseason could depend largely on how Kapinos, kicker Mason Crosby and the rest of their maligned special teams units perform in adverse conditions.
If it’s at all similar to how they’ve performed in relatively benign conditions so far this season, the Packers might have reason for concern. Kapinos has ranked near the bottom of the NFL punting stats. Crosby has been shaky on long field goals — and even missed a 43-yarder indoors at Detroit on Thursday.
